our History
Carbon Reform is a woman-led and LGBT-owned organization founded by Jo Norris and Nick Martin in early 2020.
Our company is built on the belief that carbon dioxide is a localized and community problem. People spend the majority of their time in the built environment - offices, schools, homes, stores, etc. However, the existing infrastructure is not being used to its potential to benefit the people who live and work in these spaces.
Drawing upon their extensive backgrounds in chemical engineering and climate science, the founders set out to build a carbon removal solution that was as low-cost and energy efficient as possible by leveraging existing infrastructure in the built environment. The pair were driven by the need to make climate solutions work for everyday people, and ended up doing much more: creating carbon capture that improves air quality and saves energy, with profitability potential that does not rely on the carbon market.
Co-founder and CEO, Jo Norris, has a background in materials science, climate science, and art. She brings experience leading research and development for a prior climate technology startup. Nick Martin, Co-founder and COO, has a chemical engineering background and extensive experience with fundraising, project management, and technology coordination. Both were recognized as 2023 Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees.
